RR Pogoy’s availability for TNT’s PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup Finals against San Miguel remains up in the air.

Speaking to reporters during the Finals press conference Monday, Jan. 19, the Tropang 5G gunner said there’s no timetable yet for his return.

“'Yun 'yung goal namin, makahabol ako sa Finals,” he said.

Pogoy suffered a hamstring injury early in Game 4 of the best-of-seven semifinals against Meralco.

After starring for the team in Game 3, Pogoy unceremoniously made his way out just a minute after checking in the game.

Fortunately for the Tropang 5G, Poy Erram scattered 27 points in the team’s eventual 102-83 win.

Since then, TNT therapists are moving mountains in hopes of getting Pogoy ready for the best-of-seven finale against the defending champion.

“Pero ngayon nagpapalakas pa sa hamstring ko. 'Yun lang update sakin,” he said.

TNT and San Miguel kick off the Finals on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

Like most sportswriters, Jan Ballesteros once dreamed of becoming a professional hooper. But he learned the hard way that it’s not for everyone.

He continues to be involved in the sport he loves, but this time as a member of the PBA Press Corps. Aside from primarily covering the PBA, he is also assigned to cover Gilas Pilipinas.
